The WWI officer - I based the jacket khaki on green, whereas the WWII commandos, I based it on brown.

The contrast is greater - intentionally. And I only used three colours with almost no blending/intermixing. With the officer, it is all intermixing.

But, as I may have mentioned before, I paint for "the eye." Decent photos are just an added bonus.
