Our future could be a bit bleak according to this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8565258.stm
Or is it just the future of Birmingham looks bleak.
I get fed up with this whole Newton discovered gravity thing - it's rubbish. He came up with the science behind gravity but people new that there was a downward force before that, the Romans used plumblines etc.
Meh what do I care. _________________ http://mcfonz.blogspot.com/2010/01/start.html

Our future's bleak because only 80% of boys know something - I like the high standards you demand!

| It looks like poll respondents were between 9 and 10. As the father of 3 boys I think this isn't bad for that age, considering attention span. |

I agree. For 9 and 10 year olds, for 80% to know the answer isn't bad at all I reckon. _________________ I HATE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY ONES WHO BREATHE |

I'd want to know how this online poll was conducted .
Is it a "tick the box" type ? Is the test anonymous ?
I wonder If they take into account the average Ten year old's propensity for sarcasm ? |

Yarp. The results stink of poor methodology. _________________

That's what I was thinking too (tho I didn't think the word "yarp"). They must have been poorly worded or deliberately leading for the littluns to think it was Noel Edmunds... or that Richard Branson was first to the moon
This survey is worthless
Oh, and "It appears children are losing an interest in science at secondary school, so more needs to be done to excite teenagers about the subject and rekindle some of their early childhood aspirations," she added.
And it's nothing to do with hormones then, is it? |

I would have loved it if one of the kids sent in an email saying that no man had yet visited the moon, that would have thrown them wouldn't it?!!!
I just find these tests are always rubbish. I mean who cares anyway. Is it so important that kids know who invented the phone? Bet they don't think its important for them to know who invented telegraph or morse code?
The other thing with this is that is it part of their education by this point - or is it something their parents are to be expected to teach them by that age? _________________ http://mcfonz.blogspot.com/2010/01/start.html
